Coastival 2013 – A Different View

A week or so ago Scarborough was taken over with art installations, projections and music with Coastival 2013. Entitled ‘A Different View’ there was 60 exciting events – with 54 absolutely free! I took most of the day wondering around with my camera and snapping whatever I could find. Focused on the theme of light there were plenty of things that caught my eye – Holotronica had to be my favourite!

Scarborough New Years Day Dip 2013

It was my first New Years Day as an official Scarborough resident, so I couldn’t resist a wonder down to the beach to see this lot brave the cold North Sea. The Scarborough Lions hosted the event with¬†approximately¬†80 people taking the plunge for various charities. It was nice to bump into Heather from Ellie’s Fund, which reminded I’m me to do a parachute jump next, wait, this year.

A Trail of Hidden Words at The Italian Gardens

If you didn’t get down to this then you really missed out on something special! Back on the 20th of October Charlotte Middleton of Electric Angel Design tranformed the Scarborough Italian Gardens with words and light, creating a rather enchanting evening walk.

Charlotte asked several poets and songwriters to send over words about the town, which were then laser cut into wood and plastic and then hung around the garden. This free arts event attracted over 150 people and could not have gone ahead without the funding from Ideas Tap.
